- To celebrate the glorious history of cocktails and the long association between the finer things in life and outstanding design, 1806 and the Australian bartender community have come together to showcase cocktail shakers, strainers, jiggers, spoons and glassware from the past hundred years. The exhibition will open with a cocktail party, of course, on the 19th May, and will then run for approximately one month. Entry to the launch is by invitation, but entry to the exhibition will be free. However we will be asking for donations to the Museum of the American Cocktail to continue their excellent work promoting better cocktails and responsible consumption of sensational spirits. Join us at 1806 for a fascinating journey through design, decadence, prohibition and luxury as seen through cocktail shakers and equipment. We will be recommending a classic cocktail to match most of the exhibits, so have a browse through the display, and then sample the cocktail that was inspired by, made in, or connected to your favourite shaker. This is Pernod Ricard exclusive organised by Yakasan.

Founded in 2005 by a handful of cocktail historians and spirits experts, the Museum is dedicated to providing education in mixology and celebrating the rich history of the American cocktail. Through its exhibit and seminars, the Museum advances the profession of mixology while stressing the importance of responsible drinking.
“The Museum of the American Cocktail will become a worldwide resource for everyone in the industry,” says founding member Chris McMillian, who produces a monthly seminar series that brings top mixologists from around the world to New Orleans to share their knowledge with industry professionals.
“We plan to establish a major tourist attraction and educational institution in New Orleans that will become a valuable resource for professionals in the beverage industry while celebrating a wonderful piece of our American history.” says Dale DeGroff, founding President of the Museum.
Proceeds from the fundraisers will go to the Museum of the American Cocktail to help support the Museum and its mixology program. For more information about World Cocktail Week events go to: www.museumoftheamericancocktail.org
