COCKTAIL 200™, a celebration of the cocktail's 200th birthday was celebrated last on May13, 2006 in New York and also in Las Vegas where the First Annual American Cocktail Awards™ took place at Commander’s Palace, Las Vegas. The competition was simulcast over the internet in New York City, Sydney, London, Amsterdam and Berlin where participating bars held Cocktail200 celebrations of their own. The winning cocktail was “The Wet Spot” created by Will Shine and Aisha Sharpe, head bartenders at B.E.D. NY.
